I am going to change my battery. Do I need to connect a power source after removing the battery to maintain all codes, etc.. .? My car is all stock eg no chips no nothing .
It really doesn't matter for a stock engine, all you have to do is after you replace the battery, drive the car for about 15 minutes and the ECM will create new inputs.
F.Y.I - you should also have at least a Scanmaster.

Thanks. I am replacing with a NOS ACDelco battery. Now it will be 100% stock. I have yet to buy a Scanmaster simply because the car is running well...and even though 26 years old it only has 39k miles. I know the day will come when I will need one. I have accumulated many spare parts and will need the SM to diagnose which part is malfunctioning.

Rick
hello; IMO 100% stock is cool if your going for points in show but if it was me I'd get a bat. with both side and top terminals.
If you ever had to jump off those side posts you'll know why.
