changing from 15w-40 rotella to somthing else

I'm running rotella 15w-40 now, and I'm going to change to cen-pe-co.


A guy at cenpeco told me I can blend there 10w-30 and 20w-50 racing oil at 1 to 1 and it would put me around a 15w-40. One question is, should I stay at a 15w-40 viscosity or should I just run there 10w30
does anyone think that 10w30 to light for me now?? I kind of want to run there 10w30 buy its self, but 30w might be to thin of a oil since I was runnig a 40w before

anyones thoughts would be helpful thanx

I have to doubble check these things but I think
My hot oil pressure is around 20-25#
and cold at start up is 75#
and I have to keep the rpm's low when it's cold beacuse it goes up to 90-95#when you start to drive it slowly

The subject of the correct oil is so full of opinionated TTYPE owners who are just as bad as all the politicians. The only key is to add ZDDP to the oil you choose if you have a flat tappet cam. Brad

Run the thinnest oil you can get away with.

I ran rotella 15-40 for several years and thought it was a ok oil but i noticed it didn't seam to leave a oily film on engine parts.Like it drained off too well.I switched to royal purple 15-40 with zddp and since had a cam failure so what do i know. But with your oil pressure numbers you should be able to run straight 10w-30.Try it and if you don't like the hot pressure numbers just drain a couple quarts out and add a couple 20w-50's.

thankx for the replies, I was just geting thoughts on it, abought switching between the two viscosity from 15w40 to a 10w30 or a blend of 10w30 and 20w50


I just checked my hot oil pressure and I have 25# a idle and about 53-59# at 55 mph cruise. I didnt do wot run but got on the car a little and seem to taper of at 65#

draining my oil and I noticed my oil smells of gas

man that rotella very hot with a nice hint of gas felt so watery when i rub it on my fingers , no to blame the rotella but always seem like that oil holds the gas in it but there could be other reasons like running rich
