Looking for the best price on a new 3" maf sensor. I know the gmpartsdirect usually have great prices, but I can't find a part # on there site for the 3" maf. Anywhere else to look for a great deal???

GM parts direct is the best. I bought the 3.5 in. for 105 bucks, gm dealers wanted 215 bucks for it, so even if you pay the $20 shipping and handling its still the best price going. What do you think. Just my 3cents worth :D

I'm hoping gmparts direct has a 3" one, but I can't seem to find it on there:confused: I punched in Chevrolet, 1995, Impala, LT1 350, searched under mass air flow sensor & got nothing. Am I looking in the wrong place??? Anyone have a part #?
Maybe I'll have to go with the 3.5 sensor, but then I'll have tro buy a 3.5 mass air pipe & what else? Heck, maybe that's all I would have to buy, so I guess if I can't find a good price on the 3", I'll look into the 3.5".

I found it!!! OIf anyone needs the part # for a 3" LT1 mass air flow sensor, it's # 25180303. You can get it from gmpartsdirect for around 98.00.
Of corse you can get the 3.5 from there for just a little bit more, so would I need to buy anything else but a bigger mass air pipe to run the 3.5?

Or go to a camaro Firbird website. I bought mine from there a while ago for 50 bucks.

You need a type of stepdown hose to go from 3.5" to a 3" MAF pipe. Not necessary unless you are in the mid 11's or faster. Just get an LT1 MAF and it will be a direct swap.

I am assuming you already have a translator right;)

Hey black when you say a translator can you just use the one that plugs into the stock maf? i was thinking of replacing the stock maf with LT1. Do i need anything else? or just the LT1 maf and put that right into place of the stocker and plug the sensor or that plug right into the LT1 that is already there?

thanks

jojo

It will not work without a Translator. The plugs are different and the sensors speak a different language. The translator costs $179, the sensor ~ $130

Thanks black, i figured that, new i would have to spend more:(

thanks

jojo

Ive heard mixed reviews about the stocker maf and the LT1. Is there supposebly no difference in performance with that set up?? I just removed one of the cones or screens whatever there called out of the inlet side of the maf for more air flow. What do you guys think?

thanks

jojo

Here are some flow numbers. Not sure who did these tests so I cannot give credit to the tester. I *think* it was 1320 but I can't remember.

Draw your own conclusions:

1. GN stock maf with no screens or venturi. This is Steve Yaklins maf. It was the best flowing GN maf.
------------------856 cfm

2. Same as #1 with a 6 inch long velocity stack attached to the inlet of the maf. This shows that a larger than 3" or 3.5 inlet to the maf would or should help. I plan on trying the largest I can fit in there. This test was done at steves request.
------------------1020cfm

3. GN stock maf with no screens. This was the maf off my GN.
------------------750 cfm

4. Bone stock TTA maf with one screen. This is off my TTA that has 14 K miles.
------------------655 CFM

The screen is worth 95 cfm if removed
The venturi is worth 115 cfm if removed.

5. Stock 3" impala maf. This maf had one screen.
------------------710 cfm

6. Stock 3" impala maf with NO SCREEN
------------------805 cfm

This is 55 cfm more than a GN maf with NO screens. Remeber this was only the 3".

7. Stock 3.5" camaro maf.
------------------910 cfm

This is 55 cfm more than a GN maf with no screens or venturi!

8. Stock 3.5" camaro maf with NO SCREENS
------------------1012 cfm!

This is 147cfm more than a GN maf with no screens or venturi!
This is the maf I run on my impala daily. It has exhibited no drivabilty changes scince taking the screen out. The screen is worth 102 cfm.

9. Modified 3.5 camaro maf with NO SCREENS OR "WING" and PORTING. Very Similar to a granatelli.
------------------1060 cfm

I think the winner is the 3.5 with no screens. It flows close to the ported one but with no work. It out flowes the GN mafs by enough to make it worth it at about 147 cfm compared to a screenless and venturiless and 262 cfm (25%more) compared to a screenless gn maf which most of us run.

Oh and I almost forgot 10.

10. GN maf with no venturi or screens and (5) 1/2 holes drilled post sensor. This was a test by Steve Yaklin to see if we could cheat alittle to get more flow. We can NOT.
It was flowed with the 6 inch velocityt stack which greatly helped the similar maf without the holes. Anyways it flowed
------------------908 cfm.
The holes hurt the flow to the tune of 102 cfm. Sorry Steve but it did not work.

Very interesting, i removed one screen on my stock maf, so im assuming it would have the same flow as the tta with one screen removed? and im not really sure what a venturi is:rolleyes:

thanks

jojo

jojo,

The venturi is that round cone inside where the stock type sensor reads the airflow. I have heard them called a focuser as well.
