Check engine light?

ALDL port ;) Did you have the 12v wire connected to the battery? Even if you had a MODIS scanner you still wont get connected to the car. If you take it back to the shop say " You need a GM-1 connector and the wire that connects to the battery" Then you can retrieve the codes from the ECU, AND you can see what your car is telling you, i.e every sensor that the ECU is connected to. He could have hooked it up to the ALDL port under the radio, but did not connect the 12v wire, that would cause the scantool not to work. Another thing, retrace your steps and you might find a connector that is not connected. You'll figure it out
 
You could also ground pins A & B on the aldl and retrieve any codes stored. Use a paper clip and ground the two upper right pins an the aldl.:D
 
Yeah turbojd thats what I read on gnttype.org, so if the light is still on when I connect my air temp. sensor, then I'll probably do that.
