Check engine soon light????

My check engine soon light started flashing today and when it did my scanmaster stopped working and the air conditioner started blowing not so cold air! Then it stopped flashing and everything was back to normal. What's up? Thanks, R.B.

what were you doing with the scanmaster when this happened?
there is a rest function in some scanners that allow you to
test the computers limp mode. this is if the computer lost
an input from a major sensor it wouldn't leave you stranded.
its base parameters programmed into the computer. when
this test is in progress the service engine soon light will be
on and the car will run rough. after the test is complete[1min]
it will go back to normal.

It showed a code 51. Took out the chip and put it back in and have had no problems since. Thanks for the response.
