I just added a check valve to my system from McMaster
(#47715K21):
I looked through all of the check valves (they have many to chose from) and thought that this one should do the job for under $15. It is rated to 400psi. So far so good. I like the idea of using a check valve because no wiring required.

What's the application?

I use solenoids for second staged nozzles with no issues. :)

??

Me of little mind would like to know where you are using the check valve instead of a solenoid? Details, please.

I believe they are discussing the use of check valves in lieu of solenoid valves when the nozzle is located at a lower elevation than the reservoir. Without some means of stopping flow when at rest, the tank will soon empty in your intercooler pipe :D

I have a solenoid on mine that Razor sent me that works off of the PAC LED trigger lead. There is a black box driver that powers the solenoid on when the LED turns on.

The solenoids that some guys use instead of solenoids are ones that need a certain amount of pressure to "crack" open (say half a psi or so) and this is enough to prevent gravity from pulling the alky through the check valve while at rest (i.e. when you dont want alky to flow). The pump can then easily overcome the check valve under normal operation.

I think that is the next mod I am going to make. I am going lean up top, and I think a 2nd nozzle triggered by an RPM switch would help out, since I am getting full boost (and full alky) on by 3500 rpm.

What solenoid are you using?

In my case, the purpose of the check valve is just to keep boost (just low-level putting-around boost) from pushing alky out of the line, and causing a transitional knock on the next WOT full-boost blast.

One car has the NOS alky. fuel solenoid, $$$$ but works flawlessly and is designed for any alky.

Other car has an Industrial Automation solenoid I think the one in the link. About $40 or so.

I think the 20 psi. is a typo for the rating as all the other ones in the series are all rated over 100psi.

In any case it works fine so far. I am sure there are plenty of other ones out there as well cheap enough. There are also other ones available with different ratings and orifice sizes at Industrial Automation, easy to buy from there too.

The one I got under that number was a Parker Skinner valve 2 pieces, coil and wiring top section and the bottom section which is the valve, you put them together with a wavy washer to secure them together modularly made so you can swap out coils and bottom sections with different materials and NPT ports, very nicely done.

The tags say 12 volt dc at 10 watts so less than 1 amp. draw to operate and I run mine off a hobbs type switch pressure activated on boost not rpms. Much easier for me. Put a snubber diode accross the switch contact and didn't even need a relay with the Hobbs type switch easy to connect and use.

The valve body is 1/8" NPT ports and the tag says it's rated at 275 psi. 3/32" orifice size.

Hope that helps, adding stages is real easy. :)

Would work great for a check valve too.
