I recently made a thread titled: "Fuel Problem???? (HELP" and I got a response saying that these problems I'm experiencing are symptoms of a bad MAF. What are the tests you can do yourself to check and see if the MAF is bad?
Thanks

Start the car and unplug it, see if it runs better
Hit it with a sledge hammer (kidding-tap it with a screwdriver handle)
Buy an LT1 MAF and translator and see if it helps
(I did the last one)

I got mine from Ramchargers, $300 for both. You may be able to get the sensor for less than $129, a used one from a junk yard should be half that

Ive been doing a little research here and there on the Maf and Translators, along with the extender chip. It seems a lot of the guys on the board that convert over or upgrade the stock maf, get theres from www.ramchargers.com ive been looking on the site to. When i start having problems with my maf, im going to convert with the above mentioned. Im sure some other guys on the board will jump into this thread and also comment. But i think the majority of them will tell you ramchargers. I know the whole setup is not cheap. But it will be your last conversion i think unless you go mafless which is another thing. Probably expect to drop around four to five yards on the whole setup. Hope this helps.

Seems like I remember TTA89 saying he got an ls1 or lt1 (I can't remember which)Maf for like 50 bucks in the for sale forum over at ls1.com. Might wanna check over there. I would swap with a known good maf before I did any of that though. Good luck.

With the engine running and MAF plugged in, tap on the MAF housing. If the car stumbles or idle changes in any way, you found your problem.

BTW, I have a brand new std. Translator still in the pkg w/instructions I'll sell for $150.00 inc. shipping. (I decided to upgrade to the Trans + before the std one arrived, and I just never sent it back)
