Me again:

The book says to check the Servo pin length - Is this necessary when one is putting the trans back together using a billet servo?

I also did not check the overdrive unit end play - it seems like this measurement is important when putting the trans back together with the new parts???
Thanks,

Hi Chris:

Thanks for the help!

I will be checking the end play on reassembly. The ASTG says to check it when taking it apart - seems like that might help ID what went wrong - but I do not know why it would be necessary.

In my other thread you say that the ASTG is not good for performance rebuilds - Can you offer any ideas on what to do different from what the ASTG says to do?

assemble the acc piston the way i stated ,rear end clearance.004,forward drum to shaft clearance .006 ,odrive drum to pump clearance .004,fwd clutch clearance w/1 waved steel clearance .020,direct clutch clearance .060 to .080 .build the rear section up to the snap ring on the bench to check rear play before final assembly, dont do it in the case like they tell you, check forward drum clearance w/no clutches in either drum and load the output shaft towards the pump.www.ckperformance.com

THANKS AGAIN CHRIS
I appreciate all the advice - this will be my first attempt at rebuilding a transmission.
