This is for my 2004R rebuild. I'm looking to buy a rebuild kit and I noticed in the CK website about a heavy duty lockup solenoid and high flow filter assembly. My question is what does the heavy duty solenoid have that the stock one doesn't and is it really needed? The other ?? is the filter really a high flow and how does it differ from the stock? Thanks

Call them up and ask em. They have always answered my questions. I'd get on of his 2004r books while you are there . Lots of tech in there. I sent you a pm.

Do you know how much their repair books are? I have a video and an ASTG manual but always looking for more detailed guides.

The book Chris sells is like $65 plus the ride. You have to call him at the shop to order it. I have it and bought it when it first came out and for a person that never has built a trans before its good. Now, I watched the DVD more times than I should admit and followed the book. http://www.ckperformance.com/resources/GM2004RTECHNICALMANUAL.html

The kit Chris sent me around July of this past year changed as well as his Shift Kit. Mainly the accumulator springs and some other VB mods. This is where I had to pick up the phone and call Chris. He made some changes that are not in the books/paperwork. The other thing is that the kit does not have all the selective washers. If your pump washer or forward ring gear clearance is too loose / tight it gets tricky since those washers have all but dried up. I was able to find a couple of pump washers on a GM locator, but had to use a machined down washer at the forward ring gear which I made myself. Just know that unless you have a pile of cores there are somethings like these washers that will cause you headache. This is when you are measuring clearances and you looking at the ASTG book and looking them up and find them nearly impossible to find.

On another note..............Chris needs another sale ! I really need a deep pan to complete mine :)
