cleaning gas tank

What is the best way to clean inside the gas tank without taking the inside finish off? I have 5 year old gas in tank.

E85 might clean it cheaply. Or maybe use zylene or methanol. Not sure what it will do to the coating if any inside the tank. Mine was so bad I just replaced the tank.
