I just purchased a set of '86 TType wheels. The wheels are very dirty and crusty. Would sand blasting them be the answer? Also I have seen these wheels before with a polish look. Has anyone in here done that before?
From experience - The problem with the T-Type wheels is that the clear coat breaks down and crud gets between the coating and the aluminum. What I did was get some industrial aluminum cleaner and a scotch brite pad. Took about an afternoon of scrubbing but they came out looking really good. I've also heard of people using muratic acid (like they use to clean concrete) but haven't tried that.
Of course, you could save yourself the work and go here: Wheels about 2/3 way down the page.
