RJC stoped selling the .040 HGs a while ago. I was told that they did'nt crush as well as the .028 HGs. This caused a few of them to leak, and was not acceptable. Switching from a .040 to a .028 HG will raise your static compression a little less than 1/2 a pt I'm told. It's probably not a big deal on most TBs. If anything, it'll be a bit crisper off idle. IMHO, even RJCs discontinued "bad" .040 HG is better then a Cometic HG on a TB car with only 8 head bolts to crush the gasket. But, that's just me .
