I recently locked in someone for the TTA reunion in 2011 and I wanted to get a Q&A thread started for this person early so we can build on this and print it out for the event. If you could ask someone (who knows everything about these cars) any question about the 1989 Turbo Trans Am what would it be? Let's start a list and see what questions come up! As time goes by I will announce who this person is! I asked a few questions about the TTA's that I "thought" I knew the answers to and I was wrong on several! I think this reunion is going to open many new doors and all those unanswered questions people have had about the cars the real truth will finally come out!

Like why didn't they number the cars with a badge inside like the 30th? How were they built at PAS and in what order did they come in? Why were some of them missing badges? What do all the numbers mean on the intercooler and trans tags? What mods were done to the 200R4? How where the TTA's picked out on the line? What order were they made at Pontiac?

You might think you know these answers but you'll be surprised what the real answers are!

So think real hard and put any and all questions you would like to hear the real answer for right here in this thread!

Come on guys! This is going to be a once in a life time opportunity to ask questions about the TTA and it's making! This person has ALL the correct answers. I'm going to print this out and these questions will be a part of the Q&A session at the reunion in the JEGGS suite at the track! If you want to see what some of the guys are asking take a look here.. Turbo Trans Am Forum

Okay Jim, just to get this going, who and how many decision makers were involved in selecting the exterior/interior color combo for the TTAs? I am not looking for names and faces as much as what group within GM or Pontiac were involved. Why just one color combo? If they just picked GTAs off the line seems like any combo could have been selected.

I'd ask 2 things...

Why didn't they go ahead with the roller lifters? Clearly it wasn't some space age technology in 1989.

And why did they use the BW 9 bolt when it was already warranty problems behind the lowly 230 horse 5.7 TPI? The Dana 44 was at thier disposal.

Good questions guys. I did touch a little on this items with our mystery guest and was surprised about the answers. Remember this will all be printed out and he will read thru them at the event in the JEGGS suite and give us all the correct answers. This guest has been silent for many many years and was involved in this project up to his eye balls and he is really looking forward to all the questions anyone may have.

Wait till you see the documents and pictures that have never been seen before on these cars is displayed! And everyone that attends will get a copy FREE!

He's been teasing me with some sample pics of the MANY that will be given away at this event. Anyone ever seen these pics before???

Don't forget guys the host hotel was sold out last year for this year, but now is the time to get on the waiting list for them again for any cancellations! They typically don't take any reservations till after the first of the year at this hotel.

The year of the TTA is here now! 1/1/11 Call and get on their waiting list now! In years past I even got lucky calling them a few weeks before and keeping on them on a weekly basis and scored rooms right up till the day before the event.

The management there are all good people and will keep you on a list and contact you as rooms become available. There is plenty of hotels in the area as well but it's always fun at the host hotel! I can't wait for July!!

Also now is the time to join up with the BPG and save some money on your admission tickets for this event!

Since the questions in this thread will be printed out and handed to Scott Kelly at the reunion this year to speak about them and answer them, if anyone has any questions and or gray area's on these cars post away. This will be your one chance to lay to rest any and all questions about these cars!

I'll post this in here just because I saw it in another thread....

**What were/was the changes/differences between the 200R4 from when they were used in the Grand National compared to the turbo trans am. Was any design work redone to the transmissions and why was it done. How much time was spent going over the transmission for the TTA and where was it done.

Scott Kelly has asked me to wrap this thread up so we can print it out and get all the questions in order for the reunion for him. So speak up with your unknown questions on these cars! It's going to be a pleasure to hear the correct answers in Ohio this summer!
