I think some clarification is in order.
Commander chips are primarilly designed for stock MAF'd cars.
The only way NON stock MAFs can be controlled is through the use of a Translator. And it's best to use an EXTENDER chip with the translators so as to "extend" the maf range.
Now, with that said, a commander chip can be used with a translator, but why bother. You wouldn't be able to take advantage of all of the translator's features.
So, while it's true a commander "can" be used with any maf, it can only be used with non stock mafs if a translator is used.
Commanders are designed to be used with stock mafs and give the user all or most of the tuneability features of an extender chip, without the "extension" feature.
