I decided to install the dual springs in both accumulators even though I was shy on the HP requirement. I had the kit installed for one short season (less than 1000 miles) and decided to take things back apart to check things out. After removing the 1-2 accumulator I noticed the 4 bolt threads were slightly rolled over and there was some alum shavings on the threads. The problem being is the two springs are so stiff its difficult to screw the bolts in against the pressure. I did have trouble getting this together and was wondering if I was going to strip the threads in the alum case. This is way too much pressure for the alum threads to hold.
The other question is on the mounting plate for the spring surface, it has about a .020" groove from the spring seat. Is this normal? I think I need to replace the plate.
Does anyone have these 4 bolts (3 of one length and 1 longer) for the 1-2 accumulator? I also would like to find a new plate. When this goes back together I will only be using the single springs in each accumulator.
If anyone is considering using the dual springs in this kit I would be very careful of not using the bolts to screw down the housing but push the housing down and then put the 4 screws in. Even still I wonder if the alum and that size bolt can withstand the pressure without pulling threads.

Chris, if you read this maybe you can comment. Thanks

the bolts when threaded at least 2x as far as the thread diameter into good threads can withstand more than the weight of the transmission. The easiest way to do it is to use 2 guide studs (made by cutting the head off of longer bolt of the same thread pitch) to hold the accum housing squarely as you press it into place and start 2 bolts on opposite sides. Then back out the 2 guides and thread in the bolts a few turns at a time till they are down.

I always prefer to use a stud & when it comes to threads in aluminum. I stripped too many as a youngster.

Does anyone have any comments on the spring plate grooves? Where can I get new bolts and plate?

Grooveson the plate are not the end of the world. As far as stripping the holes, you are the first person I have heard of having that issue. In your case I suggest blocking off the accumulators.
