Common oil leaks?

My car is dripping oil around the oil pan area, more so in the rear than anywhere else. Are these cars prone to leak in that area? What should this cost to fix? Thanks

Darb, these cars are most prone to leak from the rear main because they came with rope seals. Especially if you swithed from mineral to synthetic oil. Fortunately, they're not that much trouble to replace (assuming the crossover bolts cooperate). Check the pcv grommet on the passenger side of lower intake and valve cover gaskets also. Sometimes its the intake itself not sealing. Just have to look it over real good. The main culprit is usually the rear main. I wouldn't pay over $100-150 for the repair. Probably best to do it yourself. That will save cabbabe and allow you to find anything else that may need attention. Plus you'll have the satisfaction of doing it right. Hope this helps, Joel
