Hey guys..I just got back from a trip to New Orleans for the weekend (great time!! If ya haven't been there I suggest you go, and visit Bourbon St!!) Anyways..it was my first time flying in at least 6 years or so..But obviously it was for the first time since owning my Grand National. And I couldn't help but realize that the feeling of taking off from the runway in the plane was eerily similar to that of taking off in a TR. Have any of you realized this or thought the same thing?? I couldnt help but smile as we took off. It made me want another GN that much more than I already do! I sold mine in the spring, but I'm hoping to be financially stable to hopefully get another one by this May..So anyways have any of you guys thought of this comparison before??

I think that has occured to most...only difference is that the upkeep of a commercial airliner is far less expensive than that of a GN. ;)

I remember seeing a cool advertisement in GMHTP magazine a while back (about 3-4 years ago) for Terry Houston's business that had a picture of his GN launching with the wheels up and behind it was an airplane taking off..... Very cool picture!

i have had more then one person after riding in my car or me telling them about my car describe it as are plane like... thta is perdy cool :)

Love that feeling of power when they throttle up those jet engines, the take-off is my favorite part of flying.
I think my Buick has a better 60 foot time though:rolleyes:

I dunno it has been along time since I have been in a jet.
I kinda think the turbo whistle is more like that of a long hual truck.
There is a truck plaza a few miles from me & when those boys takeoff you swear a GN is around. Except you hear a GAZZLION transmission gear changes.

GN's sounding like jets

years ago i was blowing away a mustang & a cop caught me in the act & told me: may i have your pilot license please? you were flying & your car sounded just like a jet. that was the only time i smiled getting a ticket. :D

Yeah the local airport keeps asking where's the plane when I buy AV100,,hey bud it's in the garage...

Try launching your car at 20+ pounds of boost,Then you can descibe what it feels like to get rearended at 60+ mph!!!

A couple of years ago, I got an Air Ambulance ride.
It was a tiny 4 engined jet, and we were trying to beat some seriously bad weather. As we rolled onto the runway, the pilot was already at about 20-30% throttle, and the hit it as we got straighten out on the runway. It was really impressive. It definetly matched the 0-80 of a 12 sec GN, but the last bit of the roll out, as it was getting light, was like that of a mid 10 sec car.

Doing a fast roll out with a fighter just has to be all sorts of grins.

I never thought of it that way, but you're right. I haven't flown in a jet in maybe a year, so I'm itching. I love flying. Actually, the initual thrust doesn't match the Buick unless the pilot "spools it up" while holding the brakes, but once the fans spool up, the result puts a smile on my face that can last for hours. I also like pilots who aren't afraid to throw it around a bit. :D

A plane is alot slower than a GN to 100mph and nowhere close on the 60ft. I think it could be more comparable to be launched off an aircraft carrier.
