Has anyone ran with a higher c/r than 8 to 1 on a 109 block.
I was thinking in the range of 8.5 to 9.

Would there be any power gains from doing this. Or would I just be making it easier for detonation to occur?

This would be on a hot air car with alchy, 36 lb injectors and a hotwired 340 pump.

This is a street driven car. It will hardly ever see any track time. So I was thinking that a higher c/r would give me more "around town" power. I only run 12 lbs boost now. And am only planning on running 16-17 lbs after the rebuild and the alchy. So would raisng the c/r be beneficial for my car under real world conditions.

I have tried higher compression. I am now back to stock compression. I think the car had more low end power with the higher compression but it also had more detonation and I was not able to run as much boost. I like the lower compression better.

Hi, I'm not Steve. "Race cars" may be inclined to depart from 8:1, because they play with heads and cams and so on - it's a different ball game when u start going fast...
