Compression test on my outboard motor on my boat. I been getting different ideas to do it some say leave all the plugs in except the one with the gauge in it. And others say leave them all out. Anyone confirm?

It has been awhile since I tested one. On a warm engine (if possible), I pull all the plugs, ground the spark plug wires and open the throttle. Screw the gauge in and give her a spin. There could be, but I don't see any benefit of leaving plugs in. Plus it might start if you have spark and fuel!
