The computer makes adjustments based on the a/f ratio for best emissions for cruising and idle. Once you get past a certain load the computer, ignores the o2 sensor and fuel is based on pre programmed numbers based on the rpm and MAF and tps. The computer is making constant adjustments to the blm block learn cells, to avoid over and under correcting. Most Aftermarket fuel systems like fast and dfi, etc, provide correction also but they do not learn the numbers and the result is huge swings in correction based on changes in atmospheric conditions, humidity, engine temp, hot soak etc and will not maintain the tight range as the stock computer. Some people may not agree with this statement, but I;ve seen it with my own setup.
