Guy Cunningham took his car to the Phoenix track this evening & first pass ran a 10.97 127 mph leaving with no boost. Boost is set at 23 # & indications are it's a little lean. R.J. Reynolds who was was kind enough to assist him. Has had more Buick racing experience drove the car next & left with 8# boost 1.53 60 ft 10.58 127.48 then got ousted & sent packing by the track officials who had given prior warning. The car is still in need of more tuning & some C-16 racing fuel. That should put it in at least the low 10's . Guy has one fast street car.

"Guy has one fast street car."

Yep, thanks to the guy who built it, Lou Czarnota.

We were at Speedworld in Phoenix tonite for the cars' maiden voyage, it was too much fun.

Thanks to RJReynolds for the support, assistance, and then his peddling her to a 10.58.....and to Lou for hanging on the phone and talking us through runs with info from the time slips.

A little seat time and some lenient track ofiicials and I'll be there, too.

They did warn us......

Wait till next week.... heh, heh, heh.......

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Oh yeah.

Lou, there is a "street race" somewhere, at a race track that shall remain un-named, next Saturday night....

No tech, just a safety "inspection" making sure a battery tie down, seat belts, and helmet are there. They "might" look for a fire jacket.

I will be paying for your airfare and hotel so that you can be sure your creation isn't beaten like a mule.

****************************************************************************************************

It has now been said out loud for all to see and I would hope that your current (i.e. In Process) customers will understand that this trip is necessary for your sanity.

I'll see you...........wherever........next Saturday...........

I understand if you can't make it due to your customers needs.

Guy, I would like nothing better than to do that but I'm backed up & people are waiting for me to help them. This is why I don't own a race car cause then I would be out of business. It's too much fun !

Thank you Guy for giving me a crack behind the wheel. You have one Bad Azz street car. 10.50s on your first time out and we didn't even push it that hard. I love the color combo with white exterior, chrome trim and blue bench seat interior with crank windows. It is the ultimate sleeper. Lou did a beatiful job on this car. It was built with a proven combo and his craftsmenship is top notch. Congratulations to both of you.

Congrats on the times. Sounds like there might be a low ten second time slip in it, with a bit more tuning and launch. Our cars are very close. My Czarnota motor ran a 10.55 on 22 lbs of boost. with 91 oct and alky. And yes, I've been kicked out of a few tracks too, for no roll bar. Guess it's kind of a right of passage.

Be safe with it.

Must be the "Curse of Lou" effect.......

Phoenix, AZ

Thanksgiving time, I do believe....

From Nick:

"Here is the schedule from Speedworld:

Speedworld Drag Strip

The "official" Buick event is Saturday, Nov. 26 at 9:00 PM.

We usually are able to park trailers and cars on Friday from noon until 5:00 PM. We also then tape off a section of the pits for exclusive use for the Buick group.

Saturday evening is a "Street Meet" track event that is also available for a nominal track charge. On Sunday AM there is another local event that is open to all racers.

Since we pay no track rental fee, you can race, or just run for fun or a time-only all weekend!

Hopefully some out of town racers will take advantage of a full weekend of racing or playing with their car for a very minimal expense.

Even if you do not, or cannot bring a Buick, bring your ZO6 or whatever, and have fun with us for the weekend!

Hopefully we can have enough Buick racers to have our own bracket race?"

I'll most likely be doing the family thing that weekend...highly doubtful I could get a permission slip signed for the event...but it would be fun!

can a little slow Mustang come and play?

Sho 'nuff!
