Just to talk about it because I am new to automatics.
I installed the new converter last night on the trans and I feel it is right but just to check.

I measured with a straight edge the stock one after I drop the trans still engaged fully with a straight edge across the bellhousing flange down to the mounting pads on the converter at about 1 3/8"

After I poured about a quart of fluid in the new converter I slipped it on the new trans and after a little rotating and wiggling it went one clunk then another that may have been 2 small clunk clunks if that makes sense 2 for sure.... It felt seated and I measured it at 1 7/16" deep from the bellhousing flange. Does this sound right ?

Thanks

when you push the trans to the block it should slide on without issue , dont use bolts to pull it on to block , and be sure to check as your installing bolts that the converter can still be slid forward and back
once bolted up with converter pushed back to trans if the gap between converter lug and flywheel is over 1/4" youll need to shim so that gap its less than 3/16" but at least 1/8"
stock converter doesnt usually need anything more than bolt it up but all aftermarket converters should be checked and shimmed if needed
