Recently switched my pump back to lock up and put a Yank SY3500 lock up in place of the old AC n/lu.
Took the car out for a test today and experienced the folowing:
I have FAST so I put a toggle on A and F in ALDL to create a manual switch for lu. Got the car up to speed in drive, flipped the switch and the converter locked ( dropped 250rpms under cruise condition). Played with the switch a couple of time locking and unlocking in various gears.
Blasted the car WOT, shifted to drive, locked the converter and held it through OD(dropped 1000rpms between shifts w/ lock up). Pulled to car over to re-check the fluid. Fluid was high(in the first V bend coming from the handle end of stick). Got back in the car to drive home and the converter will not lock again. Checked the ALDL, did away with the switch and straight wired the connection, and nothing.
Someone suggested the fluid level being high created a foaming type action that sorta stuck the lock up valve with air bubbles?
Any ideas?
