Car is an 87 with a precision 49 turbo, atr down pipe no cats, cold air intake, blue tops and a fresh motor and trans. It has a Red Armstrong 93 chip in it now and has a huge amount of turbo lag. I am planning on a a TT chip for it on 93 octane. I want to buy a converter for the car before the chip is done and do not know what would be the best stall for it.

Your expert advise is needed please.

Tt chip and a scan master or powerlogger first, tune it. Then maybe a converter if needed. The Reds chips that I have dealt with are very rich down low and can cause lag. IMHO

A TA-49 turbo with a Precision exhaust housing will never give you good response and quick spooling on the street.

I have installed MANY of these turbos over the years, and will always use a stock Garrett exhaust housing modified for this turbo.

With the Garrett housing, a re-stalled D5 converter to the max will do the job!

Both Bison and Limit Engineering can machine the Garrett housing, and it is simple to install.
