Is there a trick to gettting this thing out? It's square and looks like 7mm. I've been trying with no luck.
An open end wrench starts to strip it so I don't want to try too hard.
Is there a special tool for this like a square socket?
Thanks

Best bet before it breaks the head off is a *decent* set of square jaw visegrips. Never failed me yet! Of course the plug will be useless when your done but 25cents for a new one is trivial.

If it does break, you can drill it out and rechase the threads. Most all the ones ive done were brass, so the chasing procedure isnt that bad. If the block is still in the car, well then i guess i wouldnt press my luck since drilling and retapping it is probably a PIA.

Intake gasket is leaking. I've never done one but I've read that you must drain the coolant from the block to avoid spilling coolant into engine.
Am I wasting my time?

yes you are
dont mess with it
draining the radiator will bring the level down enough. It seems that the block will never give up all the fluids until it gets turned 20 times on a stand and blown out with air - it is like water and oil breeds in the block
