Here's the problem:

At idle, the car reads 4 grams on the SM, and At WOT, it jumps up to about 235 or so first and then it will drop down to 170-180,even 160's on the shift (1st to 2nd) while still at WOT and will never go back over 200 no matter how long I hold it. I mainly notice these drops on the shifts. It will climb up from lets say 170 or so till 190 and then drop down to 160 on the 2nd to 3rd shift. I tried on a freinds known good one and I got the same results so that leads me to believe that their maybe something wrong electrical somewhere.

Does anybody know where I should start looking? Any Ideas?

TIA

Under all the conditions mentioned above, what were the boost levels???

If you're down around 15# or less, that would explain the lower maf values. Not as much air moving.

Hey Dave, Boost level is around 17psi or so. The turbo does have a straight 3" inlet and a Ram Air intake kit, so I don't think it's not getting enough air in. Then again, it has been on the car for about 5 years now.

what difference does it make? If the car is running well at less than WOT, then the MAF is probably fine...most chips lock the value at 255 at WOT anyhow......

I'm sorry but I don't Understand. What do you mean by "well at less than WOT". What does the chip have to do with this value? Why would it lock it a 255 if it's not seeing 255? Does the chip automaticly act as 255 even though it's not seeing it?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm still learning how to tune.

I apreciate the help.

Jorge.

sorry.....try & explain.....when we mess with the airflow over the MAF with our K&N's etc, this disturbs what the MAF senses.....even tho you are flowing at least 255, the MAF may only see 200 or whatever......most chips assume you are flowing max at WOT and just ignore the MAF reading.....they build the fuel curves based on at least 255

the MAF is used at less than WOT in conjunction with the 02 sensor to set fuel parameters....at WOT, the 02 is also ignored

usually if your MAF is bad it will manifest itself at part or light throttle....don't worry too much about what your scan tool says at WOT unless you have some type of restriction in your intake path

so if your car is running ok, your MAF is very likely fine

Got it.

Thanks Woody.

So Basicly, I can swap it with someone who is seeing 255 with their set up just to make sure mine will show him 255 on his car.
That would be the only way to check it in my case. Right?
