When installing braided tranny line fittings, teflon tape or pipe dope??

On the 2 tranny lines at the bell housing, which line is out and which is in?

The upper fitting is out to the cooler.

A word of caution: Do not use Teflon tape on the transmission case threads. It acts as a lubricant, promoting overtightening resulting in cracks.

Thanks, what about on braided hose Earls fittings in between and to cooler, pipe dope or teflon tape?

I installed the AN fittings in my tranny cooler circuit dry. No leaks.
