Hit a tree today going about 55MPH BACKWARDS. after I made sure I was ok and stopped cussing about the quarter panel, bumber etc. I decided to drive it on home. But it has no power to the fuel pump. Had it towed in, but I don't even know where to start.

I ran a hot wire from the battery to the lead under the hood (nothing)

I used a test light and it had power going in the relay at the rear bumper (casper's hot wire I think) But NO power going from the other side of the relay to the fuel pump. I unplugged the relay, it looked fine. I plugged it back in and left it. Went back a little later and now there's no power getting to the relay like before

Help..

Check the fuel pump ground on the middle fuel line of the sending unit, on the inside of the tank.

You can apply voltage to the wires hanging under the rear of the car leading to the fuel pump to make sure its still attatched inside and all.

If you backed into a tree at 55 with the drivers corner, something might be pinching the wires that run along the inside of the trunk and out to the fuel pump. Glad to know your alright and hope the damage isnt too bad.

If the fuel pump relay isnt sending its power back to the pump, you can try this to get the car to run.

Take the 3 prong connector off of the oil pressure switch on the front of the block below the turbo. Make a jumper and connect the 3 wires together. This makes up an alternative path for the current to flow.

Somewhere on GNTTYPE there is a wiring schematic for the relay and how it relates to this oil pressure switch, but when mine quit working it took oil pressure to make up the connection before the fuel pump would turn on. That meant cranking the car for 45 seconds, but it ceased to work when the oil was hot.

I never got all my wiring "right" again.

You may have pinched the wiring to the tank, and blown a fuse. Without the trigger to turn the relay on, it's not going to activate. Look in the trunk where the wires pass through to the outside, that area could be squished and cutting through the wiring.

Thanks everyone, I'll give these things a look.

My car hit some sort of cylindrical, inanimate object with the driver's side rear 1/4, too. I didn't own it at the time so I don't know what it was - might've been a tree, or a big pole.

Anyhow, the fuel pump ground and hot feed run through a harness in that LH corner of the trunk. The harness was completely severed in my case. I just spliced into the harness and ran my own wiring to the pump.

what in the hell were you doing driving 55mph backwards??!!!

Sorry guys, I must have posted the cause of the accident somewhere else.

To clarify I was driving on the highway about 55MPH in the rain. Had the drag radials on the car and all of a sudden it spun around with me. Just cruising along and next thing I know I'm going backwards and finally hit a tree.
