I have a problem with my car. My scanmaster is getting code 42. I have checked out eveything on the car and I am stuck. I check the crank sensor and it is rubbing up on the crank pully. Is this bad or is it the way it has to be. Can someone tell about the crank sensor if it is good or not.

OUCH!!!!!!!

The reluctor wheel of the crankshaft must pass throught the sensor with out contact, prolonged contact will damage the sensor eventually by knocking the magnet out and without the magnet you will have no spark. You can adjust the sensor with a 8 mm wrench for the proper clearance. If you want to (or need to) replace the sensor, they sell for apx $18.00 at O'reilley Auto parts.
