Cross Over Pipe/Exhaust Leak

Where the Cross Over Pipe connects to the other pipe - Is there a gasket or some type of seal there? I know that it is leaking there, but I have not had time to tear it apart. Thank You!!

No, there is no gasket between the crossover and headers.

Remove the pipe and make sure the flange isn't cracked. If it's OK, apply a little grease on the inner flange. This will help the pipe slide into position over the header ball flange when you tighten it.

Position the pipe so it's centered between the oil pan and TC cover. It shouldn't be up against either one.

If this leak is on the drivers side, It's probably the imfamous header crack and not the crossover at all!

tighten the bolts in small increments, alternating from driver's to passenger's side. This is your best chance to ensure a good, proper seal.

Drop the cross over. Inspect for any cracks or splits in both the cross over and headers. Make sure there are no cracks in the headers. If all is perfect here. Take some body scuff pads. Clean all rust off of the bottom of each header so they are as clean as you can get them. Now do the same thing to the inside of both cross over connections. Clean with a non film solvent like brake cleaner. Get a tube of copper high temp silicone. Place a bead of silicone on the inside lip of each end of the crossover. Let this setup for about 30 - 45 minutes or so until it is semi plyable rather than gooy. Now install the cross over only hand tightening the bolts until you start to seal against the silicone. Now snug up the bolts part way and leav it for about an hour. Come back and tighten the bolts. Now make sure to toghten the bolts in a even pattern and make sure the cross over is straight. Wait 10 - 12 hours for the silicone to dry and this should fix your problem.
