Cruise control issue

While driving with my cruise engaged,,the traffic began to slow in front of me. i tapped the brake to disengage the cruise which it did,then about 2 seconds later it engages itself...it was a bit harry. The only way to disengage fully was to turn cruise off on lever.....any ideas!

Resume switch shorted out or bad controller box.
