I am currently running 50lb injectors, Alky, and a TA49 w/ a stock style 12" D-5 LU TC. (at 24lbs of boost it feels a little bit laggy)
I will soon be adding a Cotton's FMIC and maybe bumping up the injectors - in hopes of snagging a CPT66BB at a good price. I was thinking a 10" 3200 LU would fit the bill now as well as later but, I figured I should get input form people who might actually know about transmissions and mathcing TC's.

Any thoughts?

BTW, I was thinking about a PAT's convertor. Any thoughts on this selection or is Coan or Vigilante better?

I posted a thread similiar to this a few days ago. I have a TE-60 turbo and going to get 60lb mototron injectors and I also was wondering what stall to go with. A TE-60 is a few steps up from a TA-49 and I was told not to go anymore than 3200. A 2800 stall would be enough to spool the 60, but I was looking to the future as well and like you had a BB turbo in mind.

Maybe the way to go would be to put a 3200 stall converter on at the same time you upgrade to a BBturbo. Or you could get your stock D-5 restalled to around 2800 to help with the little bit of lag till your ready for the BB ....Maybe others will chime in and give you there thoughts!!
Good Luck!!!

I run the Vigilante single disk lock up. The 9.5 inch set at 3200 stall. I also run a larger turbo; a PT-61.

I dont know much about pats converters, but one thing I do know about the Vigilante, is that Precision will do a re-stall once for free for the first year in case you went too large on the stall or too small. In your case for the TA-49, a 2800 should be more than enough, in fact you will spool the hell out of that turbo, but if you go larger than a TA61,PT61, or a TE60 you will need more stall than 2800 for best results from your turbo. Good Luck!!

A true 3000 stall works great with a 49 if your looking for killer launches from stoplight to stoplight and at the track.the d5 works but it is outperformed by the lighter 10.5 3000 stall converter. With the 66 I suggest try the 3000 stall that works well with the 49.itll probably work great and stall higher with the 66.

So, I can stay with a 3000 stall with my 49 but it'll still work ok with the 66 if/when I get one.

I had a te60 on one of the cars with a stock d5 and it just didn't pull like the stock turbo or 49 with the stock d5.

That is why I wanted to make sure I pick the right TC so I'llonly have to do it once.

Thanks for the info

3000 maybe a little on the small side but would still work fine, it will lag a little on the bottom end but will be fine on the top end. 3200 would be better 3500 probably would be the best but too much for the street IMO.
