Is it normal for the part throttle shift to be later and firmer in D than in OD?

Thanks,
Mike

Here's a better description.

Increasing TV, moving cable towards firewall, doesn't seem to influence part throttle shift points in OD. If I move to D, then I get the delayed, harsh shift at part throttle you would expect from adjusting TV. Is that how it is supposed to work? I thought OD shouldn't be any different that D at part throttle.

Mike

Not only will mine upshift harder in D vs. OD, slowing to a stop it will hit much harder downshifting from 2-1 if the selector is in D.

fwiw... while i dont have a TB i do have a 200r4 in my hurst olds and i get a pretty violent(well violent as 307 can be, lol) 1-2 in OD. I dont get the same shift in D. it rips the tires while in OD but i've never got them to even chirp in D.

If I'm not mistaken, when the trans is in manual 3rd and the trans has the "X" seperator plate, pressure is applied to the boost valve in the pump increasing pump pressure. I looked into this issue years ago and found there was a feed hole moved on the "X" plate to boost pressure when in manual third. My memory is fading so maybe someone else can chime in.
