Just wanted to share;

Dad reminded me this morning it was 29 years ago on today 11/13/1970 that I wrecked his 63 Chrysler New Yorker with the 413 police wedge in it going to high school. I've never forgotten though.

He never ceases to remind me of it and made sure he told my 15 year old son who now has his learners permit as if to say "it is get even time". Vince (my son) called him this morning to tell dad he got to toss the football around with Tim Tebow last night at the UF stadium. It was cool this morning so I took the "T" out of the garage to drive to work. When I tossed my son the keys to drive to school he tossed them back and said "no thanks I don't want any part of that bad luck". LOL

I'm not complaining really. I thank God dad is still with us at 85.

Where did 29 years go soooooooo fast?

Mikey

Dad's are good for that!

Good Story!........well you know what I mean.

Did you actually wreck it/total it or just smack it up real bad?

Don't leave us hanging.....were you racing, dog jump in front of you, inquiring minds want to know...... or at least I do I guess.

First I have to fix the typo, 39 years ago not 29 years ago!

Totaled it!

I was driving to high school, I pleaded with mom to let me take the 300 that morning and she finally relented. Man, could that car do burnouts on those 7.00x15 nylon tires! Posi 3.2something or 3.4something if I remember correctly. You could dig a hole in pavement.

Some guy in a 65-66 Stang ran a red light in a 50 mph zone and t-boned me dead on the right rear tire and pushed the axle over so the left rear tire hit on the fender. Put his girfriend through the windshied onto the hood of the stang and nearly killed her. It was raining and he spun the Chrysler completely around a full 360 degrees.

It's your Dad's fault for buying a 413 Police Wedge in the first place. If it had been a Slant Six, you wouldn't have wanted to take it.
On a side note, the Mustang ran the red light, not your fault. Your Dad must have been using the Mexico Rule: you are culpable because you were there.

Thanks for the back story, Sorry it was a such a loss for everyone:frown: and glad she didn't die or that would have probably left a worse memory than totaling Dad's car.

Yea I tried already tried this.

"Dad if you didn't buy such a cool car I wouldn't want to drive it. This whole hot rod addiction thing I've battled for 40 years is your fault!" Man I loved every minute of driving that 300 to high school.

He also had a 39 Plymouth with a Lincoln engine transplant in it from his youth, but I never got to drive it. He is a great mechanic who owned his own garage for a few years back in the late 40's early 50's.

I never asked to drive his other car.
A 61 Chevy Biscayne 4 door with the 230 six and 2 speed slushamatic he bought for $50.00. Ended up being my college car.

We need to write a collection of stories from our pasts. It would be great reading I'm sure.

Awesone story dude...that reminds me a guy named Chris that was in my autoshop class in high school. Our project that day was brake systems so Chris decided to do the brakes on his dads 69 Camaro. He forgot to bleed the brakes. At the end of the day he decided to get a little hyphy by womping on the gas....ummm can you say crunch...right into a brick wall.
