Who ownes the Dark Grey Regal that is on the Turbobuick.com home page? Is there a website that features it. Just wondering. Considering painting my Drag GN Dark Grey and wanted to see more pictures of it. Thanks, James L.

pssssssst.... that my friend is a TType/Turbo Regal with blackout trim option (W02) and factory dark grey paint. I think it was/is Mike Licht's from Ramchargers.

real GN's are black :D .

That TR on the TB.com home page is actually owned by Ricardo LaCosta and it is a WH1 Designers Edition two-tone '86 T-type.... There are a couple good pics of the car on this website....

There is a little story behind that pic.

The original used to hang in the hallway at Modern Musclecar. I used to hang around that shop all the time, every time I would pass that picture hanging on the wall I would have to stop and marvel at it. There was always something about it that I liked. When Mike asked me and Chris to make this site, I told him I needed some pictures to use. Mike told me to take whatever I needed to use, so naturally I grabbed my favorite one, scanned it and put it up on the site as I was building it. It needed a little bit more, so I tried to come up with something to really demonstrate the explosive power of Turbo Regals. ...Explosive....power... And then it hit me. I looked all over the 'net and after a couple of hours of searching I finally found the perfect mushroom cloud. I placed it behind Ricardo's car, touched a few things up a bit and the legendary "Atomic Lauch" was born. It is pretty basic, but it is one of my favorite things I have ever done.

Mike told me a couple of years ago that Ricardo sold that car. I wanted to get in touch with him and maybe send him a few shirts for letting me use the image of his car or something (Mike said in the beginning that Ricardo wouldn't mind me using it). I never did find a way to get in touch with him.

The original picture that was hanging on Mike's wall now hangs on the wall here in my home office.

Jason, last I heard he still has the car and he just built a twin turbo Stage II On-Center motor for it.... If you really want to get in touch with him I'm sure Alex (blackshoebox) could probably get you his phone # because he sees him at the Buick meets that they have in Fort Lauderdale....

Not to change the subject, but I was there that year, the only time I've made it so far to Bowling Green. I helped carry the hood back to where he was pitted. He forgot to put the hood pins in. That was a very nice car.

Brings back old memories. :)

The rest of the story

Jason:

And now for the rest of the story………..

In 1998 I was transferred to Michigan where I lived for a year before being transferred back to Florida. This picture of my car, which I have owned since new, was taken that year at the Popular Hot Rod Magazine Championships at US131 Dragway in Martin, MI. The original, a big 2 X 3 is hanging in my office.

While living in Michigan I gave Mike Licht an original copy (smaller) of the picture. Mike used it on magazine ads for Modern Muscle and it also found its way to this web site. I never gave Mike Licht permission verbally or written to use this picture in his ads or this web site. On the other hand others that have used pictures of my car in their ads and magazines have requested written permission. However, Mike is a nice guy and I like him, he also did me a couple of favors while I live in Michigan, so frankly I never did anything about it.

However since you stated: “I wanted to get in touch with him and maybe send him a few shirts for letting me use the image of his car or something (Mike said in the beginning that Ricardo wouldn't mind me using it). I never did find a way to get in touch with him.” Well, here I am. It would be great if you would send me some TB.com official gear. Or you might want to consider sponsoring my car. We can all use Extra $$$$ HEHEHE. Or if you want, I will sell you the car. Anyway, feel free to E-mail me so that we can make arrangements.

The car, by the way, is running good - mid 8’ with only 10 passes on a complete new combination and we are still having fun. Although, as previously mentioned, I am starting to seriously consider selling it and moving to something else. It has been almost 18 years with the same car. Many don’t keep their spouses that long. Coming to think of it, I have had this car longer than what I have been married.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Ricardo, just so you know (if you don't know already) Jason Debler no longer owns TB.com (he sold it to Bruce)..... The new owner is Bruce Toelle (WE4) and he is the same guy that owns Performance Transmission Services in Cali....

Just thought I'd give you the heads up:)

Ricardo -

I was at the meet at Steak n Shake on Sat. I have to say the car is AWESOME. Very, VERY clean car, and the underhood setup was insane. :D

- Matt

P.S. - I was the one that asked about the blower gauge vs the boost gauge ;)
