Data Information Center doesn't light up

My DIC readout ( the one that shows mileage, boost pressure, etc )on my 1997 GS started working intermittently then a few weeks ago stopped working altogether. I am getting power to the Fog Light button and can change readouts from metric to standard American with one of the other buttons on the panel. I have read there is a ground connector somewhere under the carpet that has a spade lug where multiple grounds are tied together. It's said this lug can need some serious cleaning to rid it of corrosion and could be a cause of my problem. I had all three 1997 Regal factory shop manuals at one time. However, the one that deals w/ this particular subject got soaked badly in a flood and had to be disposed of.
Can anyone help with this or is there a better solution?
