dbl roller timing chain

I just had my motor rebuilt and I gave the rebuilder a dbl roller timing chain to install. I have since seen comments that the chain tensioner should not be installed w/dbl roller chain. I am not sure if he installed it or not. Will damage ocurr if he installed it and can he even install the tensioner w/a dlb roller chain.
