I'm putting my car on a diet . Anyone know the weight savings on going to a fiberglass hood , specifically a Hartline hood ?

Myself and members Murphster and Dank etc have done posts back in the day, not sure they're still in the memory banks on here anymore but...

Even though I lost my big weight doc, I believe it's almost 27lbs on the dot.

Trunk lid with carbon bumpers and you're down a nice chunk. Carbon bumpers vs Stock and steel support brace was huge.

This is the thread I remember.

Thanks !! In that thread there is mention of a Vortexbuicks list that was very helpful .

I keep mine on the charger just like I did my old AC Delco so it's really not a bother. You can get a specific charger for the lithium or you can get a Noco Genius 2 for $50 and charge lithium, flooded acid, gel, AMG and deep cycle.

Wow haven't seen the Vortex website in years, good starting point and this might be a good time to create a master list between that and all the posts on here over the decades. Easy to get to 3400lbs with the guide of a master list, expensive too. Hahaha

I was surprised there wasn't a sticky with the weight info listed like Vortexbuick has .

Depends on who's hood it is and if its a bolt on or pin on.
The gn pin hood came in around 14lbs from vfn.
The bolt on is is 23lbs.
Hairline is is heavy but a much sturdier piece.
I will check my info on weight.

I’m not sure if it’s worth it for weight loss only, but Sweet Manufacturing makes a 600 series steering box that’s 7 lbs less than the stock steering box.
I wanted an all new faster ratio steering box and got their 10:1 steering box with the .200” input valve.
Their 600 series box has 4 mounting ears whereas ours only has 3.
I cut the extra ear off and smoothed the rough casting before painting semi-gloss black. It weighed 21.9 lbs when done.

If you really want to lose 7 lbs from your car and $1800 (stock 12.7:1 ratio) from your wallet then this may be for you.

Talk to Josh or Mark for options. You can probably get the easier steering .185” or .200” input valves for the 12.7:1 box as well.

As received.
