I'm making a living will this weekend. No way would I want to "live" like that. 13 years and no change. Time to say goodbye. This is not anyones business but the husbands. Parents shouldn't have any say in this. HE's married to her not them. All the rest is just political crap to catch the media's attention for votes. You're fools if you think Jeb REALLY cares about thiswoman. He's in it for the votes since he got hurt politcally by his drug addicted daughter :D

I think it's obscene that Jeb has taken this opportunity to grandstand. He doesn't give a sh*t about this woman. Her life and her situation shouldn't be played out all over the news and the 'Net. Both sides have twisted the facts around to support their side of the argument - you can't believe everything you read. No one knows the truth about her intentions except the husband. I'd bet that within a couple of weeks Jeb's "law" will be struck down and this woman will be allowed to pass in peace.

Personally I think the parents have lost touch with reality. Being a parent myself I can see how this can happen. It's very sad. Letting her starve to death sounds harsh, but if she's in a total vegetative state as the doctors say then she is she's not feeling any pain. All emotions aside, she's basically a pile of flesh being kept from rotting by machines. Brain "damaged" or brain "dead" I'd be praying for someone to pull the plug on me. What's the point of being kept "alive" (if you can call that state "alive")? I wouldn't want my family to see me like that nor become such a burden to them. Medical science has progressed too far in these cases.

I guess the lesson is that if you don't want to be put on life support put it in writing. It's hard to think about regardless of how old you are, but a simple note or a living will would have prevented this.

All I can say is thank God for Jeb Bush. She is NOT brain dead, just brain damgaed. No one deserves to die by starvation, and her filthy husband and the court should be charged with attempted murder.

Don't be so quick to judge unless you have had to deal with a situation like this first hand! I have and, believe me, it's no fun. My Grandmother had parkinson's and I had POA over her affairs. All of the doctors told me what things might come to and I tried my best to prepare myself for the worst. Well, the worst finally came, and Me, Myself and I had to tell them to turn off the breathing machine that was keeping my Grandmother, who I loved more than anything and who was one of my best friends, next to my Grandfather, alive. There is no way to prepare for that. :( I felt very guilty about it, going over everything I did and didn't do, to see if I could have changed things. My Grandma's sister helped me throughout the whole thing and said it best when she told me "Grandma is in a better place. She is much better off now because here she wasn't living, just existing." That, and all of the love and support from most of my family made things a lot better and easier to see that Grandma was, in fact, in a better place.
I think the same applies to this woman. She is merely existing, not living. You may disagree, but to me there is a HUGE difference.

Also, when the feeding tube is removed, other drugs are given to make it a pain-free process. She basicly goes to sleep. That is the way it was described to me by the doctors.

Again, why is it more humane to put our pets to sleep so they don't have to suffer, but a human we will try every trick in the book to hold on just because we are too selfish to let go and allow them to go in peace?
  :(

Anyone see the CN8 show "It's your call" on this tonight? 19 times this has been to the courts and each time they say let her die. NO ONE should be involved in this issue accept the husband and her doctor.
