In my journey of rebuilding my 1st Buick turbo 6, and am contemplating the idea of deleting my EGR. I am going to be using a TT chip, and I was told those have EGR function disabled. If its disabled, then I was going to remove the EGR equipment and just plug the exhaust port. My question is does anybody know of an intake gasket that has the exhaust ports for EGR blocked off? Has anybody done this mod? I think it would help keep my intake a little cooler, if I can keep exhaust out of it all together...since this is a hot air engine...and I plan on stuffing a little more "hot air" down its throat than the factory did;)

no egr for the track good but for the street the cyl temps will get very hot under regular stop n go traffic

i havent been running one for a long time. if your pulling the intake or have the intake off just take it to a alum. welder and have them weld the EGR port shut and grind it flat on the intake. if you need i can take pictures of mine.

I had wondered about cyl temps getting high under light loads, but if I understood TT's website, EGR is disabled even on their street chips. Just wish I knew more about TR's, and what their allowances are. On my Crossfire Injected Vette I got rid of the EGR, took 2* timing out at distributor, increased FP by 3psi, and put in a cooler fan switch and it worked great. Just dont know about the turbo 6's.

here

here is a picture of my old intake. you will just have to let eric (TT) know you dont have any of the EGR stuff so u can remove it all that way it doesnt throw a code.

Thanks for the pic. Nice looking intake, mines nowhere near that pretty yet. I let Eric know when I order my chip.

If you want the EGR functional, just let TT know when you order the chip.
FWIW, the EGR only fuctions under light loads and the basics on this are the same. EGR does not function at WOT or under boost.

The "Dark side" starts at 0/0. :D
