I'll probably just keep my old truck but I've been thinking... and that's bad.

Either a Denali truck (late model used) or a Harley truck with the blower (late model used).

Both must tow my 8000# trailer. I really like the Harley truck but don't know if the 4.6 w/ the blower can hack it.

Opinions???

I bought a 2001 Denali bout 3 months ago, love it! Gets decent gas mileage (14.5) city and I drive like an ass. Large comfortable and its got power (320 hp). I have owned all other types of suv's grand Cherokees, Durango, navigator, and it’s by far the best!

Hope that helps.

Andy

Actually the Harley truck has a blown, intercooled (water) 5.4 SOHC engine....rated at 360hp if I remember correctly. It's ~basically~ the Lightning motor.

I've ridden in one and it's VERY nice. Tons of torque with the supercharger...pulls hard...cool SC whine.

My vote is for the Harley Truck, but keep in mind that it's only a four seater.

I've got an 02 Tahoe and LOVE it. My buddy Steve from VA, THINK he's a board member has an 01 and put a Whipple twin screw SC on it w/the SMC Alky kit..it's sweeet. Tons of power. I'd go that route if you really like your Tahoe. If you feel the need to spend the money, the Denali's kick butt..that 6.0L is quite the pig on gas from what I hear though...

Check the towing capacity on the Harley, Its still an F150 (1/2 Ton) and probably isn't rated for 8000lbs.

I went to Englishtown this weekend in my lightning towing a Procharged 94 Z28 that wieghed 3580 without Driver, along with Tools, 2 sets of slicks, skinnies, bags, etc etc with a 1900lb trailer. It tows awesome, tons of power. We cruised 80mph, the limit for the Lightning is 5000lbs, although Im sure we had 6000lb and it towed fine but check the ratings.

And whats even cooler, We broke the car so we started racing the truck

I have a 2k 4.8 V8 GMC..If it is almost paid then keep it.. If you got the bling bling then get the harley.. I dont know about having the SC and towing in terms of life of SC though..

Maybe I'm thinking of a Sierra instead of a Denali then. What I meant was the 4 wheel steering extended cab GMC pimp mobile. It's rated for AT LEAST 8000# I thought the Harley truck got the smaller motor. The only thing I don't like about it is all the Harley stuff on it. It's a nice looking and and nice interior truck. I only have 2 kids so the 4 seats would be perfect. BUT, can it tow???

EDIT: From the Ford site about the Harley truck.

6700-lb GVWR; 4500-lb Tow Rating; 1375-lb Payload; 10,000-lb GCVW Rating

Too bad, that thing is bitchin' Why not make a truck that good looking with a standard drivetrain you could tow with? Oh, and it's $37,000 !!!

SIERRA DENALI®
Starting at MSRP $45,070*

Um, nevermind. I don't need or want to pay for a truck that expensive. $45K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It all depends, if your truck is about paid off why have more payments or unless you get a hell of a deal.

Like I said its an F150 but I totally agree that it looks ok but because it says Harley on it I wouldn't go near it. I mean really, what does it have in common with a Harley Bike? The Fact that it has Chrome and its Slow?

Get a 3/4 Ton truck if you wanna tow an enclosed trailer.

Sorry I can't follow the poll either:D , and I've seen the same situation at the eighth mile track....car broke and they raced a Stock Lightning. It ran 8.5 @ 84 mph! A stock LS1 was there running 8.7s

just so you'll know.

Harley Truck are rated at 340hp/440tq.
I'm not sure but I think that the hitch its equipped with limits it tow rating. Maybe you could install and higher classed hitch. Its definately a hell of a truck. If you do persue this coarse look into aquiring an X-Plan pin. This will reduce the cost of the truck to 3% over dealer invoice with NO added fees...not even destination charge. Good luck.

ps. There is a guy that drag races a daily driven Harley Truck...I think his best pass is 12.40's or maybe a little faster;) . Johnny Lightning is his name if anyone here ever heard of him or seen the truck run (its his wife's truck).

If you can wait a few months we will start producing Harley F250's and 350's. The preproduction ones that I have seen are very sharp with really nice interior. I believe that they come in three different colors and also brand new for this truck 18 or 19" wheels. They can be had with either a 6.0 diesel or V10. HTH
