Due to the state laws of MS about the only choice I have is to part out my wrecked 86 GN. First, I do not find the idea of a salvage title too appealing since it makes the car basically worthless. Secondly, the closer I inspect the car the more problems I find, including the hidden damage from a previous wreck that did not show up in a carfax report. But the biggest problem is that I cannot bring myself to tear one of my cars apart. I pulled the car cover back this weekend to start making the parts and price list, but it was too depressing. I've owned the 86 GN for almost 8 years. So, I put the car cover back on and went inside to enjoy spending time with my 7 week old daughter. One day, I'll get around to it, but it will still be depressing.

Fix it up and drive it until it dies. :)

I don't even know where my title is anymore, sure don't care what it says on it other than no lien holder. :D

Didn't you hit the bus? I have a 86 GN that I'm going to be parting out soon and it may be of interest to you. Let me know...

Worthless to who? Sounds like it has some value to you.....

My car is a rebuilt total with a salvage title. I'm pretty sure it's not worthless - I figure it's worth about 50-75% of market value for one in similar condition. It's a risk I took when I bought the car, but I'd do it again. I've gotten it all back in the satisfaction of owning it.

I hear your sorrow. However, by parting this car out, (if you so chose) you can help someone elses' dream come all the bit more truer. I know I would get some satisfaction out of doing that!

Really, in the scheme of things, the difference between a $5000 semi ratty driver and a $20000 garage queen aren't that great. Depending on the amount of damage to the car and what it means to you personally should determine whether or not to fix it. If you want to make it live again - do it! Enjoy it! But I wouldn't write it off because of what it's worth to someone else!
