What exactly can you do/not do with a DFI Gen 6? What is the going price for one and are there any pros vs cons. Thanks

The DFI 6 is an aftermarket ECM. It would replace the ECM in your car and control the fuel and spark. You'll find more information on it in the "Performace ECM" section.

Going price on DFIs

I have bought two seperate units off the board for $300.00 with everything over the last year or so (for my friends cars). I recently saw a unit for sale for $400.00 on the board. I feel that the Gen 6 is a great deal especially if u can do a lil tuning urself. Data logs(one of the features) are great for making sure the car is running right during a full pass. Best thing is the need to buy chips will end everytime u want to upgrade injector sizes. I just swaped out my 55 lb injectors for 72s and after 3 minutes of tuning the car runs great and is now on full kill!

Like JDEstill said.... it's a "stand alone" fuel/computer system. DFI is mostly for professional tuners and does take some getting used to in regards to the different tables. But as far as adjustability, it was one of the best aftermarkets ECU/systems available.

Was over at BDS last week and was talking with Craig the owner. He is an Accel EMIC as well as I am and he said that John Meany (the inventor of the DFI system) is coming out with a system that supposed to knock the sock off anything out there in the market MOTEC included.

The only thing I don't like about the old Gen 6 is that they don't have a wide band input like the newer systems do. It works with a standard O2 sensor that is limited in A/F reading capability to accurately tune the system. Some of the newer systems... you can just plug in an A/F ratio where ever you want it to be and the system will automatically adjust to achieve that A/F ratio at any given load/RPM point. The closed loop option of the DFI system is ok if you're trying to get the thing to stay stochiometric outside of WOT, but I would turn off the closed loop function for a race application.

Edelbrock makes an awesome pro-data logger for a reasonable price. The built in accel data logger is ok at best.
