I have an 87 Grand National with 39000 km (24000 miles). When I start to accelerate slowly from a stop while turning right mostly, I hear a kinda "creaking/cracking" sound coming from the rear end. Doesn't happen when accelerating in a straight line. I thought it could be one of a few things.
Maybe a loose shock, or maybe the polyeurethane bushing I have on my rear swaybar. Lately I've been reading a few posts about guys getting noises from the rear when turning, and other members suggested that it could be coming from the posi-unit, and to change the rear end fluid, and add a GM Posi-unit supplement. The rear end fluids were changed 3 years ago, but since then I have only put about 5000 km,(3000 miles). Is it time to change it? My thought was it could be be the poly bushing on the sway bar. I've heard they can cause these kinds of noise. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Dave

Lube th poly bushings with a little shot of white lithium grease. Mine did the same thing. Sounded like an old rocking chair. Sprayed it and the noise went away.
