I have a transmission I recently put a SS valve body with the requisite shift kit from CK installed. I have the appropriate governor mods as well. All shift kit work was performed by CK. My understanding is the car when in OD should have shift points around 6 - 6.2 k.
I have an Art Carr N convertor on the car non l/u. I don't know if they make a l/u versopm but I thought this information might be pertinent for proper diagnosis.
The car has never shifted above 4.9 k and it seems the shifts aren't as firm as they should be. Before I went over to the SS valve body and before the stock TV cable was lost, I was getting tire bark shifts at medium throttle, but not under WOT.
I purchased a generic TV cable, the valve body and TC and installed all at once. I installed and asjusted the cable so that the plunger rested flush against the bore @ WOT.
SO MY PROBLEMS ARE:
I have an early shift.
Shift feels softer than it should.
2-3 shift is stacked.
Since running this combination I have had an occasional flare 2-3.
MLP pressure looks fine, but the needle does this eratic shaking motion. It doesn't just rest on any PSI reading especially when I do standing test and go WOT. In no gear does the needle rest, it always vibrates.
Now I know TV pressure is used to delay upshift while governor pressure creates the upshift. Seems like TV pressure is the problem but I don't think it is a misadjusted cable. So I am wondering where in the shift valve train should I be looking. Should I be looking into the 1-2 valve train, the MTV upshift Valve? I know the TV cable is adjusted correctly.
Could this be check ball related, I can't find how the balls VB side are supposed to be loaded. I think there are 3 and I may have put them in the wrong spot.
I know I can send it back to Chris for review, but I would rather figure this out @ home. Save shipping cost and gain valuable knowledge all in one stroke.
Thanks!
