I did an archive search and didnt find anything.
Now I know there is probably a reason why you shouldnt mix them but I dont know what it is.

People frequently put in touluene and xylene and all kinds of other crap into their tank of gas to boost the octane rating.

Being that diesel engines have outrageously high compression why couldnt you just throw in some diesel into your tank of supreme thus allowing you to run more boost without detonation?

Whats the lowdown on this? I have actually heard of people putting some diesel in the tank with a motor that tends to knock because of high cr or whatever.

I am certainly no expert in this area, but I believe diesel fuel has lubricants in the fuel which will cause the car to smoke excessively thru the exhaust (depending on how much you put in I guess) as well as foul the plugs.

I have seen gas motors run on diesel with no harm (other than fouling plugs and having to clean out the tank), however you can't run a diesel on gas (for long anyway).

Probably not much help, sorry.
:)

Diesel motors run on detonation....

...the detonation is caused by injecting fuel into the motor at or near TDC, but they are built to take it, that's one reason they are so heavy. 30 seconds of the extreme cylinder pressures a diesel withstands nearly forever would trash your motor immediately.

Diesel fuel is not as combustable as gasoline. There is no way in my opinion that you would be able to run higher boost levels. It lowers the octane rating if mixed with gas.
