Posi diffs don't need a special lube base on the amount of torque they are subject to. They need the lube to allow the clutches to slip during turns when the wheels rotate at different rates of speed.Our cars produce prodigious amounts of torque. As such I went with Valvoline 85W140 petroleum oil. The heavier weight just due to the level of torque the drive train is subject too.

Again, I tried this years ago and never got rid of chatter until I used Lakewood BFL. I've used it ever since.I went with synthetic, which stated it was designed for posi so thinking I may not need additive. This post is very helpful, if I sense any chatter I'll simply add the additive. This post has a lot of good information in one spot, I searched much in the past to find similar information.
