I have this posted in the transmission forum, but there just isn't any traffic through there.

I know the turbo cars had a different tranny than the hot airs. My question is when you do the typical high perf. rebuild on the tranny (clutches, servos, drum, etc.) are they all equal? I ask because I am looking at a rebuilt tranny out of an 85 for my 87 GN.

BQ ('84-'85 TR) vs BRF ('86-'87 TR)

If I understand correctly, the main differences are in the valve body, servo & governor. They are pretty much the same otherwise. :)

trans

Having used my share of both, put a super servo in your 85 (BQ) and it will work just as good as an 87 (BRF) Minor differences in the governor and maybe VB (Not sure about VB )

BQ ('84-'85 TR) vs BRF ('86-'87 TR)????

what does all this mean.. i know like nothing about transmissions....but im trying to learn it..i had an 8 motor and trans but im switching now to the 87 setup but keeping the 85 trans.. is there anything special im going to have to do???

I was talking to Vinny @ Janis trans the other day about this same topic. He said the only difference that would need to be changed out is the servo. Otherwise the VB & Gov work wonderfully.
