I am trying to decided if I should buy the latest scnamaster or save some bucks on an older unit. What is the difference ?
Thanks !!

Same here.
More-so, what is the difference in the 2.1 and 2.2?

The 2.2 upgrade is required to allow the scanmaster to interface directly with and display it's data from the Powerlogger. And as such, can display other key features such as WB a/f ratio, boost, map, egt.

2.1 adds Oxygen sensor cross counts to the list of things it can read and can also show Cross counts (CC )with the added ability to read the W fast code data stream

W,X or Y fast data streams have to be burned into the the chip by your chip maker and give quicker oxygen millivolts and knock updates nearly 3 times faster than std stream , and the fast stream W+Y streams adds injector pulsewidth (PW)and spark advance (SP) to the things you can see at the loss of the MAL function.

2.0 cant show oxygen sensor cross counts , and with the fast update data streams 2.0 wont show IAC

if you have 2.0 you can see the iac with directscan or powerlogger .
or with a std scantool so long as you don't have a fast update burned chip

unless you plan to run a scanmaster through powerloggers available programable output port you can still use the scanmaster 2.0 running out of the ALDL port , but the 2.0 cant be upgraded to the 2.2 chip for use on the PL SM port
