Difference of big shaft vs small shaft? ---

What are the main differences in a big shaft vs small shaft turbo?

I was looking at a Turbonetics te44 and it was advertised as using a "big shaft"

Does that just make it more durable? Does it add weight to the rotation , effecting the spool at all?
